Hello - it's Ben Oliver here again guest posting on Simon's blog.

There are just two and a half more weeks of Simon's Sabbatical to go before we welcome him back on 15th September. I thought I'd write to let you know some updates on what we've done in his absence.

Firstly, I need to let you know that we're still recruiting for our new Caretaker role. With many being away over August, we've extended the application window out to 11th September to give a better opportunity for you / someone you may know to apply. Here's the original blog for a little more info.

Many of you will have been enjoying "Kerith at the Movies" in our Sunday evening meetings and the "Soul Shift" morning series at 9,10 or 11am. But away from Sundays, what else has been going on?

Well Summer LIFE is underway this week - our youth's annual gathering for a mix of games, group-time, worship, seminars & preaching. It's a new venue this year - and it's lovely! We hear they are loving it - loving time spent together having fun, building friendships and experiencing God.

The Kerith Centre roof is not far from finished (although rain has been interrupting progress a little this week). It'll take a week or so more to complete, then a couple of weeks to take the scaffolding back down again. We did have an emergency plan as to what we would do on a Sunday morning if it leaked badly whilst we were meeting. I'm very grateful we didn't have to put that plan into action - although some of the team were really excited at the chaos opportunity and a little disappointed it didn't rain that week!
Here's a picture from earlier in the summer (remember the sun shining?).

Meanwhile, whilst the Konnections Respite care summer projects have been underway, the garden area outside of our Bracknell K2 building has had a refresh, courtesy of Waitrose, who sent us their gardening team to inject some welcome colour.

Throughout the summer our Social Justice and Pastoral ministries have been continuing to help connect people who need it most with advice, food, support - even CAP breaks. Here's a picture of members of Bracknell's Nepalese community being blessed after their English lessons by our Foodbank. It's a cultural, colourful collaboration with the council!

Now we're wrapping up the usual August activities: preparing & planning for the Autumn and all the opportunities we'll have to make the invisible God visible this coming term. More of those in subsequent blog posts, I'm sure - but those are for another day, when Simon will be back with us - can't wait!!

God bless,
Ben

Job Opportunity: Caretaker Role

Hello, this is Ben Oliver writing on Simon's blog. I'm covering some of Simon's responsibilities during his sabbatical and I have Simon's permission to let you know about a job opportunity we have at Kerith based in Bracknell. I promise this is not Simon infringing the strict "no blogging" rules of his sabbatical ;-) We're into the 8th week, by the way - the summer is going fast! Simon is currently in Bethel Church in Redding, California for a few days - meeting with Paul Manwaring, who preached here back in July, and other leaders and members of that church. We're certainly looking forward to hearing what God is saying to Simon during his trip and the retreat time he has lined up next. Please keep praying for him and Catrina.

I've interrupted the blog-silence to let you know about a job opportunity for which we're currently recruiting. Please see the information copied below. Whilst we're praying for the right person to fulfill the role, please also pass on the information if you think you know of someone who would be interested. Here it is:

We are looking to recruit a full time Caretaker who will be responsible for looking after the upkeep, maintenance and room set ups around our Bracknell Site.

Working as part of the Operations Team within the Estates Department the role would suit somebody with previous similar experience who is passionate about all we do as a Church and enabling our ministries by supporting them in maintaining the highest standards of our facilities. If this sounds like an opportunity for you or anyone you know who is looking for a change and a challenge, then we would love to hear from you.

Application packs (which include a detailed Job Description) are available from the Kerith Centre reception.  If you need any more information, please email Gary Scull, our Estates Controller at gary.scull@kerith.co.uk or Ali Hudell, the Human Resources Manager at ali.hudell@kerith.co.uk

The closing date for all applications is Wednesday the 26th August, with interviews anticipated in early September.

Thank you,
Ben
